One of the things I like most about being part of the Complete Streets community is getting to work with a group of caring, change-oriented, and highly creative people to tackle some very serious public issues - community safety, environmental conservation, exercise and health, to name a few - and that this sometimes means having some serious fun. It's a joy to be able to walk or bike through Pasadena on some of our safer routes, and to do this with friends and neighbors as a celebration of movement, health, and freedom is something I really treasure.
Have you RSVP'ed for tomorrow's (Saturday 5/17) Ride, Roll, and Stroll? Colorado Blvd. will be closed from 11:00-1:30pm to all forms of motorized transportation, leaving the streets open for everyone to walk, bike, skate. After 1:30pm, the streets will be cleared for racers with the Amgen Tour of California.
We've gotten together with the Department of Transportation and some of our City Councilmembers to lead a walk, which leaves from the City Hall steps at 11am and will take 30-45 minutes. Mayor Bogaard will also be leaving a bicycle ride. Hope to see you there!
